Fancy a coffee and a bun, but have a toddler as your companion? Lille Tøyen Kolonial will welcome you both with open arms. This small café is located in the neighborhood of Lille Tøyen, between Hasle and Tøyen subway stations.
It's a super cozy place that has merged a coffee space and an organic store. So you can go there, enjoy a yummy bolle and a warm cup of tea and do your groceries right after, how practical is that! I was there some weeks ago with a friend and found it really nice and tasty. I loved the atmosphere and the vibes of the place
The staff was really friendly too, and had no problems whatsoever with our walking toddlers and their eagerness to explore and touch everything. The little ones, of course, found the store specially appealing. Afterall, non-toys always become their favorite "toys" ;). There are high chairs available, so ' baby feeding time' won't be a hassle. Another really handy thing is the huge window they have facing out, from which you can watch your sleeping toddler if he or she is napping.
About the store:
The idea of this space emerged from the lack of healthy, locally produced goods and in response to mass produced, industrialized food. That's why all the products you'll find here are sustainable and seasonal. Their goal is to offer products as local as possible, as clean as possible and represent small-scale producers.
About the neighborhood:
It totally felt like being in the middle of a countryside village. Lille Tøyen definitely goes by its name... small houses, empty streets, charming gardens. Really cozy on a cold winter morning.
They've been running several baby-café sessions during some Mondays each month, so stay tuned! You can check out their Facebook page for more events ike this.
